Spring (Summer) Cleaning
So far I have two children: the loner-techy (Henry) and the helper (Rhys). Don’t get me wrong, Henry isn’t a loner when there are people around, and he’s far more social than I am (“CAN WE HAVE A PLAYDATE?!” repeat four times a week) but he prefers to spend his personal time doing things I’d rather he not, like playing Wii or messing with the computer. He reminds me of someone…hmm…
(my goal for this next year is to get him more interested in books than gadgets)
Rhys, on the other hand, likes to spend his free time helping whoever’s in need. He’ll ride to get the tires changed with Dave, or put clothes in the dryer for me. He’s even helped Grandpa cut the grass, as scary as that was, because it was not a riding lawn mower. But his favorite thing to do – his passion – is mopping (or vacuuming). He’s actually good at it, and in a year or two he’ll graduate to the actual mop, but for now, he uses his little swifter thing from One Step Ahead and does a pretty good job.
If his little attention span was longer, he’d clean the whole floor. As it is, I have to settle for the entry way and a few chosen spots.
